Sean 'Diddy' Combs Arrested in New York, Says Music Mogul's Attorney
New York, NY - Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in New York City on Tuesday, April 5, 2023, according to his attorney.
Combs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and reckless driving after police pulled him over in Manhattan.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Combs was driving a Rolls-Royce SUV when he was stopped by police at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
A preliminary breath test administered by the police showed Combs' blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to be .09, which is above the legal limit of .08. Combs was also given a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Combs was taken into custody and booked on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while ability impaired (DWAI), and reckless driving.
He was later released on $2,500 bail.
Combs' attorney, Todd Spodek, said in a statement that his client "intends to plead not guilty to the charges and will vigorously defend himself in court."
Combs is scheduled to appear in court on May 2, 2023.
If convicted of DUI, Combs could face a fine of up to $1,000 and a jail sentence of up to one year.
He could also lose his driver's license for up to six months.
Combs' arrest comes just weeks after he was involved in a car accident in Beverly Hills, California.
In that incident, Combs was driving a Rolls-Royce SUV when he collided with a parked car.
No one was injured in the crash, but Combs was cited for driving without a valid license.
