Health Authorities Sound the Alarm as Mosquitos Breed

Six Individuals, Including Two Pregnant Women, Infected

In a concerning development, a 46-year-old doctor and his teenage daughter in Pune, Maharashtra, have tested positive for the Zika virus. Amidst growing concerns, the Pune civic body has implemented measures to combat mosquito breeding, as the virus is primarily spread through mosquito bites.

Since the initial case in Erandwane, where the doctor tested positive, six individuals have contracted the virus, including two pregnant women. Health officials are actively monitoring the situation and undertaking preventative steps to curb further spread.

The Zika virus has resurfaced in western India, with Pune recording its first case of a pregnant woman infected with the virus. This marks the fifth case overall following the initial four infections. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions, such as using mosquito repellents and ensuring all water bodies are free from stagnant water, where mosquitoes tend to breed.
