Spain continue to dazzle as they thrash Japan 2-0
Nico Williams scores Spain's second goal on his first international start
Spain are now top of Group E with two wins from two
Spain continued their impressive start to the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Japan in their second Group E match. Nico Williams scored Spain's second goal on his first international start, after Alvaro Morata had opened the scoring in the first half.
Spain dominated the match from the start and were unlucky not to score more goals. They hit the woodwork twice and had several other chances to add to their lead. Japan had a few chances of their own, but they were unable to find a way past Spain's defence.
"This is going to be a nice gift for my mum," said Williams after the match. "She's a big fan of the national team and I know she'll be proud of me."
Spain's win means that they are now top of Group E with two wins from two. They will face Costa Rica in their final group match on Wednesday.
