Disney Legend Richard M Sherman Dies

WEB Richard Sherman, half of the Academy Award-winning songwriting team of the Sherman Brothers, has died at the age of 95.

Sherman, who with his brother Robert wrote songs for the 1964 Disney classic Mary Poppins, died on Friday, May 25, 2024, according to his family.

Sherman and his brother were a major force in the success of Disney's animated films in the 1960s and 1970s. They wrote some of the most iconic songs in Disney history, including "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," and "It's a Small World."

In addition to their work on Disney films, the Sherman Brothers also wrote songs for other films and television shows, including "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "The Parent Trap."

Sherman is survived by his wife, Becky; his four children, Jeffrey, Gregory, Robert, and Victoria; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered as one of the most prolific and successful songwriters in history.
