Mitchell Starc Benched: KKR Drops Star Pacer for Punjab Kings Clash
Kolkata Knight Riders Opt for Chameera Replacement
Starc Misses Out Due to Injury Concerns
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a significant change to their playing eleven for today's match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Star pacer Mitchell Starc, who has been struggling with an injury, has been omitted from the team's playing XI and replaced by Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera.
Starc was acquired by KKR for a hefty INR 2475 during the player auction ahead of the season. However, the Australian left-arm quick has had a disappointing campaign so far, claiming just six wickets in eight matches. His injury concerns have also limited his availability, with the 32-year-old missing several games.
With Starc unavailable, KKR have decided to hand Chameera his IPL debut. The 31-year-old Sri Lankan is a veteran of the international circuit and has represented his country in both Tests and One Day Internationals. He is known for his pace and accuracy, making him a valuable addition to KKR's bowling attack.
